Hardware compatibility list (HCL)

Search this list to check whether a server, network adapter, storage controller, GPU or CPU is known to work with XCP-ng. Use the search field for a vendor or model name, and the filters to narrow by category, compatibility level or XCP-ng version.

The list combines four levels of qualification: hardware validated jointly with our partners, server families our customer base runs in production, hardware certified by its vendor for the Xen platform XCP-ng is built on, and hardware whose vendor has since withdrawn that certification. We keep that last group listed: a vendor dropping a model tells you what it still tests, not what XCP-ng runs. This list is being actively reviewed: we are working through every entry to verify it, so its content may still be adjusted. In the meantime, the XenServer HCL provides additional details on Xen platform certified devices.

Hardware not in the list

XCP-ng supports the x86-64 server platform as a whole, not only the models listed above. Any server built on a supported processor family and on components covered by the drivers shipped in XCP-ng runs and is covered by your support plan. The list identifies configurations with an additional level of validation; absence from it does not mean absence of support.

In practice, compatibility is determined by a server's components rather than by its model name. If you do not find your exact model, check its building blocks against the list instead: the processor family (see the CPU category), the network adapters and the storage controller. A server assembled from supported components is compatible by design, including models released after the last data update.

Beyond production servers, XCP-ng runs on any Intel or AMD x86-64 processor with the standard virtualization extensions (Intel VT-x or AMD-V), including desktop-class CPUs. This makes lab, test and evaluation setups easy on whatever machine is at hand; for production workloads, stay on the server processor families listed above.
